Charles Bradley is an absolute dude of a musician and man! Having lived an extremely hard life, parts of it spent on the streets, to then being discovered at the age of 60 something to now being an internationally acclaimed touring musician. If you haven't already checked him out then put his name in the search box on my blog so you can learn a bit more. I discovered him at Music Fest North West in 2011. I had already heard of him and was so excited to see his name in the line up so off to the Alladin Theatre I went and had my mind blown! To say Mr Bradley is old school is an understatement. And it's not an affected performance, think about it, he's 60 something years old so he is performing how he would have done had he been discovered when he was a younger man. He sweats, he cries, he counts his blessings, he swings the microphone around in a circle then catches it as he drops to one knee and his sequined cape beautifully spreads out around him like a birds wings.
I wasn't sure if we would be lucky enough to get another album out of this man but thank goodness we are! It is due to drop April 2nd, this is a follow up to his debut album 'No Time For Dreaming'. According to the album’s press release, "whereDreaming hewed close to the rough-and-ready R&B sound Daptone has become known for, Victim is stylistically more restless, edging closer into the kind of psychedelic soul The Temptations explored in the early ’70s.”
The first single and tour dates are supposed to be announced in the coming weeks.
The confirmed tracklist for the album is as follows:
1. Strictly Reserved For You 2. You Put The Flame On It 3. Let Love Stand A Chance 4. Victim Of Love 5. Love Bug Blues 6. Dusty Blue 7. Confusion 8. Where Do We Go From Here 9. Crying In The Chapel 10. Hurricane 11. Through The Storm
